The majestic group of kritis of Sri Oothukadu Venkata Kavi that is the Kamakshi Navavaranam consists of nine kritis; one for each aavarana. They are soulful outpourings replete with sublime devotion, written on Goddess Kamakshi of Kanchi.

In this workshop, students will be taught the nine kritis of the Kamakshi Navavaranam; along with a kriti on Lord Vinayaka, a preliminary worship piece (dhyaana kriti) and a mangala kriti – all of which are tied to this set of kritis. The kritis range across raagas both rare and well-known, and are also diverse in the taalas employed.

The workshop will consist of 12 sessions, each 90 minutes long. Sessions will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for four consecutive weeks. Dr. Gayathri Girish will be personally conducting the sessions and interacting with the students.
